Eating Post Long Runs

I have a lot of trouble eating after long work outs.

Tonight I just did a brick (bike then run, for you non-triathletes) which started with only 2 park loops (which are a 3.35 miles each, so total= a bit over 10k) for a run-heavy training sesh.

We did:
3 x down easy, hard up hills (0.5 miles each way)= 3 miles
1 x kind of nice pace recovery run to the other hill = about 1.5 miles
1 x down easy, hard up different hill (0.25 miles each way) = 0.5 miles
1 x kind of hard steady pace run back to the meet-up point= about 1.5 miles
Total run=6.5 miles = approx 650 calories

I finished the workout in just under an hour and a half. Before the session I had half a clif bar (= about 125 calories). During I had a chocolate outrage Gu (=100 calories). When I got back, I knew I needed to eat. I had a delicious juicy pear (=about 75 calories) but couldn't put anything else in my mouth. So I had a shower and now I'm eating a can of soup (=200 calories) and two tsps of peanut butter (=150 calories). I'm doing pretty well, actually, tonight. Usually I just put peanut butter on an apple and call it a night.

When I don't train in the evenings, I'm always STARVING for dinner. So I really worry that I'm not putting enough food in my body when I run- i.e., when I need it most. And I know it's not all about getting enough calories- the break down has to be right and all that. But I mean, first lets focus on just getting enough energy then we can care about where that energy is sourced.

Do you think this is enough to eat? Do you ever have trouble getting food down after long runs?

I have never had a problem getting food down in my life. What you're eating sounds pretty good to me though...you wouldn't want to eat tons of stuff if you were going to bed soon anyway.
